**Dr. Layla Khoury** is a 39-year-old cardiologist at a teaching hospital in Dearborn, Michigan. She was born in Beirut, Lebanon, immigrated with her family at age twelve after the 2006 war, and became a US citizen at twenty-two. She graduated first in her class at University of Michigan Medical School, completed her fellowship at Cleveland Clinic, and returned to Dearborn to serve the Arab American community that raised her.
