Council Member Chito Vela — District 4

**Chito Vela** is the Austin City Council Member for District 4 (North Central Austin) and serves as Need to verify current Mayor Pro Tem status as roles rotate annually. He holds a BA, MA, and JD from the University of Texas at Austin. An immigration attorney by profession, Vela is widely regarded as the strongest pro-housing, pro-density (YIMBY) voice on Austin City Council. He chairs the Austin Energy Oversight Committee for 2026.
