**Calvin Coolidge** — "Silent Cal" — believed the best government was the least government. He cut taxes, reduced the national debt by a third, and presided over the Roaring Twenties with a philosophy that can be summarized as: get out of the way and let the economy work. He was the quietest president in modern history, famous for saying as little as possible and doing even less.
